After navigating childcare firsthand, it became clear how much time, energy, and emotional load families spend just trying to line up support — often through endless searching, scattered recommendations, or rigid agency models that don’t adapt well to real life.
Lokal exists to change that.
Lokal was built out of lived experience. Like many families, we found that care needs don’t arrive neatly or predictably — they change with work schedules, seasons, new babies, school transitions, and everyday life.
What families often need isn’t just a list of names, but someone who understands context, timing, and trust — and who can help thoughtfully connect the right people at the right moment.

WHY LOKAL EXISTS
Lokal is intentionally small and community-focused. We take the time to get to know families and caregivers, prioritize quality over volume, and focus on long-term relationships rather than one-off transactions.
We don’t rely on open marketplaces, algorithms, or rushed introductions. Instead, we focus on fit, continuity, and long-term relationships — acting as a consistent point of support as care needs change.
A RELATIONSHIP-DRIVEN APPROACH
We believe childcare is an essential, skilled profession — especially in communities like Bend, where reliable care can be difficult to find before public school becomes an option and throughout the school years.
Lokal does not charge caregivers to join the network. We invest time in recruiting, interviewing, and getting to know providers personally, and we work to connect families with caregivers who are reliable, experienced, and worthy of their investment.
Families and caregivers work together directly, with transparency and respect on both sides.
