Welcome to Lokal. By accessing our website, applying for membership, or participating as a member or caregiver, you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. About Lokal
Lokal is a membership-based service that provides curated introductions between families and independent caregivers in the Bend, Oregon area. Lokal is not a traditional staffing agency and not a self-service marketplace.
We support families through thoughtful matching, communication, and ongoing relationship-based care support. Families interview, select, and hire caregivers directly.
2. Membership
Lokal operates on a membership model.
Memberships are billed monthly and require a minimum commitment of three (3) months, unless otherwise stated.
Membership availability is limited and offered on a rolling basis.
Payment is required only after a membership application is accepted.
Membership fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.
Lokal reserves the right to limit, pause, or discontinue memberships to maintain service quality.
3. No Guarantee of Caregiver Availability
While Lokal works to provide thoughtful and timely introductions, we do not guarantee caregiver availability, placement, or outcomes.
Care availability depends on many factors, including caregiver schedules, experience, preferences, and timing. All introductions are subject to availability.
4. Relationship Between Parties
Families and Caregivers
Caregivers introduced through Lokal are independent contractors, not employees of Lokal.
Families are solely responsible for interviewing, hiring, compensating, supervising, and managing caregivers.
Any agreements regarding pay, schedules, duties, or expectations are made directly between families and caregivers.
Lokal’s Role
Lokal does not:
Employ caregivers
Set caregiver rates
Handle payroll, taxes, or benefits
Act as a guarantor of services
5. Caregiver Screening
Lokal invests time in recruiting and interviewing caregivers; however:
We do not conduct background checks unless explicitly stated.
Families are encouraged to conduct their own interviews, reference checks, and due diligence.
Lokal makes no warranties regarding caregiver performance or conduct.
6. Liability Disclaimer
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Lokal is not liable for any injury, loss, damage, or dispute arising from caregiver services.
Families and caregivers assume all risks associated with care arrangements.
Lokal is not responsible for acts, omissions, or conduct of caregivers or families.
7. Termination
Lokal reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership or access to services at any time if these Terms are violated or if continued participation is not aligned with our values or capacity.
Members may cancel after fulfilling the minimum commitment by providing written notice.
8. Privacy
Use of Lokal is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which outlines how we collect and use personal information.
9. Changes to These Terms
Lokal may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any changes.
